Chapter 6: Learning More About Life's Stages
|
Often we pass through the stages of our lives almost imperceptibly.
As one stage ends, another begins, and we do not recognize the
stages of our lives until they are over. Indeed, things that
were previously confusing can seem very clear in hindsight.
The elderly, who have been through many of life's stages, often
possess a wealth of knowledge that can be instructive to those
who are younger and less experienced.
Learn more about the elderly by visiting the Administration
on Aging at www.aoa.dhhs.gov/
Then, contact an older person, such as a grandparent or an
elderly neighbor, and ask to interview him or her. In your
interview, ask questions about growing up and getting older.
What stages in their lives were the most enjoyable? The most
important? What advice would they pass on to people your age?
Be sure to carefully plan your questions beforehand, and take
notes on their responses. Share your findings with the class.
