Chapter 22: Creative Writing: Appreciating Inventions
|
Inventions do not always enjoy immediate popularity, but once
people incorporate them into their daily lives, inventions can
be quite enduring. These enduring inventions are often ones
we no longer think about, such as the telephone or electricity.
Science and technology have quietly come to affect everything,
from where we live to what time we wake up in the morning.
Imagine how different life would be without some important
inventions. Get some ideas by visiting A Science Odyssey
at www.pbs.org/wgbh/aso/
Then write three pages describing how an ordinary day would
be different without these inventions. Write your account
in the first person, chronicling your day from when you wake
up to when you go to sleep. Share your account with the class.
